Welcome hamper

On arrival at your accommodation, you’ll find a complimentary Scottish themed welcome hamper to help you settle in after your journey here. It contains:

Starter pack

Because we are in a very rural location, the closest shops might not be open when you arrive. So to make life that little bit easier, you can also pre-order a ‘Starter Pack’ for £10 (we’ll email you before arrival with more information).

Each one contains:

  • Milk
  • A small loaf of bread
  • Butter
  • Half a dozen eggs
  • Orange juice.

Breakfast pack

Something else guests treat themselves to is a breakfast pack, to really help you set yourself up for your first day of exploring. Supplied by our local butchers, you can pre-order and we’ll pop them in the fridge at your holiday cottage.

It’s one pack per person at £2.45 each one containing:

  • 2 pork sausages
  • 1 slice of beef lorne sausage
  • 2 rashers of home cured bacon
  • 1 slice of black pudding

Provisions

Hand soaps from the Highland Soap Company are supplied in all the holiday cottages, along with a basket of handy items in the kitchen. These contain Ecover products including washing up liquid, Multipurpose sprays, washing detergent and dishwasher tablets. Black bags, cleaning cloths/sponges and a sewing kit are also provided.

Firewood is also included, so you’ll be nice and toasty during your time here.

Baby & toddlers

  • Cottages that have woodburning stoves have access to full surround fireguards (Brae Morlich, Tornahatnach & The Brow).

Nearest filling station, shops and supermarkets

Alford is nearby, it’s a pretty market town with a good selection of shops and eateries. We are a bit off the beaten track, but not too far. There’s a shop just 1.5 miles down the road and a pub and restaurant a little bit further on (5 miles).

The Central Garage and Shop in Glenkindie and The Spar Shop in Ballabeg are both open seven days a week. Supermarkets are a little further away, there’s a Co-op in Alford (14 miles away) or Aboyne (19 miles); it’s a little bit further to Huntly (21 miles away) where you’ll find Asda and Tesco.
